Tokyo Colors 2015

Rhizomatiks Design planned and produced a wintertime only installation in the landmark GranRoof area of Tokyo Station’s Yaesu gate. The project constituted a further evolution of 2014’s “Tokyo Colors” installation. The main venue contains a pedestrian walkway measuring approximately 230 meters long by a maximum of 9 meters wide. Wind-direction sensors were installed at 28 locations, and signals created by the wind were converted into light and sound. Approximately 3,000 of our proprietary LED “Buds of Hope” swayed in the wind and orchestrated a magical chorus of wind as sound.
