Under the theme “Japanese creativity for a better world,” this official website was created for a creative event held across nine areas of Tokyo, in collaboration with private enterprises and spanning diverse creative fields such as fashion and design.
The key visual of the site features the text “TCS24” rotating in a systematic rhythm, expanding into a frame-like structure. These elements are interlinked by low-resolution dots that move irregularly and freely throughout the screen. This visual composition uses the contrast between “high resolution” and “low resolution” to represent the coexistence of two distinct domains—fashion and design.
As users scroll through the site, the logo shifts to a compact form in the top-left corner, while the body text is displayed in significantly larger sizes than typical web standards. This typographic approach highlights the elegant curves of the typeface, delivering strong visual impact. The low-resolution dots, distributed across the design, are carefully balanced to avoid excessive decoration, maintaining harmony with the refined and clean aesthetic of the typography.
The enlarged text size is not only intended to enhance readability—it also challenges the notion of what is considered “standard” in web design. Is the current standard truly optimal? When taking into account user environments and viewing distances, are our assumptions still valid? These questions align with the event’s broader mission: to use the power of creativity as a means of questioning and engaging with society.
